The American Center Dhaka and USAID Bangladesh organized a seminar titled “Women, Politics & Power” on September 22, 2016. Katie Croake, Chief of Party for Democracy International; Silja Paasilinna, Bangladesh Chief of Party for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems; and Ambassador Nasim Firdaus, Executive Director of the Bangladesh Alliance for Women’s Leadership (BDAWL), offered analysis and insights on women’s political leadership across the globe, with special attention on the United States and Bangladesh. The seminar was the second in a series of programs hosted by the American Center and inspired by the 2016 U.S. Presidential election. Eighty university students, young political activists and women’s rights leaders participated in the event.
