DHAKA, MAY 15, 2016 – U.S. Embassy Dhaka’s Facebook page gained its three-millionth fan on May 13, making it the first U.S. Embassy Facebook page worldwide to reach this milestone.
“Every day, we engage with thousands of Bangladeshis on our Facebook page and talk with them about women’s empowerment, labor and trade, human rights, and so many other issues that matter deeply to both our countries,” said Ambassador Marcia Bernicat. “Bangladeshis love to debate and exchange ideas and I’m delighted that our Facebook page has become a space for lively discussions and is most popular U.S. Embassy page internationally – we’re the unbeaten champions!” In honor of the embassy’s Facebook friends, Ambassador Bernicat recited Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Old and New in a video.
