U.S. Embassy Dhaka Closed May 21-26 in Observance of Shab-E-Qadr, U.S. Memorial Day, and Eid-Ul-Fitr

Emergency services for U.S. citizens will be available. Embassy will resume normal working hours May 27, and thereafter.

 

DHAKA, MAY 19, 2020 – The United States Embassy, including the Consular Section, will be closed on Thursday, May 21,  in observance of Shab-e-Qadr; Sunday, May 24, in observance of U.S. Memorial Day holiday; and Monday, May 25 through Tuesday, May 26, in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.  Emergency services for American citizens will be available over the holidays.  American citizens with emergency situations should call (88) (02) 5566-2000 and ask to speak with the duty officer.

The Embassy will resume normal working hours May 27, and thereafter, including emergency services for American Citizens.  Due to the extended government holiday, public transportation will be limited, and American citizens with appointments may experience difficulty getting to the Embassy.  American citizens who need to reschedule their appointments should call (88) (02) 5566-2000 and ask to speak with the Consular Section.

On March 19, the U.S. Department of State issued a world-wide Health Advisory, urging American citizens to return to the United States or be prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.  U.S. citizen travelers are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP  https://step.state.gov/step/) to receive the latest updates.
