DHAKA, MAY 25, 2015 – The American Center of the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka is pleased to announce that renowned American dance company Spectrum Dance Theater, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, will culminate their month-long residency in Bangladesh with a free, live performance titled “Looking Forward to the Past” at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy on May 28 at 7 pm. In collaboration with Shadhona, Center for the Advancement of South Asian Culture, the group has led dance workshops and participated in community outreach with young students in Dhaka and Chittagong.
Complementary passes for this intercultural production performed by Bangladeshi and American dancers will be available beginning Monday, May 26, 2015 at the following locations: The EMK Center, House 43, Midas Center, 9th floor, Road 16 (Old)/27 (New) Dhanmondi; Jatra, Kamal Ataturk Avenue, Banani; and the American Center, J Block, Progoti Sharoni, Baridhara, Dhaka. All passes are first come, first served. The visiting company consists of Spectrum Artistic Director Donald Byrd accompanied by celebrated dancer Shadou Mintron.
