Starting on October 1, 2017, all SSA-related inquiries should be directed to the Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) office located at the American Embassy Manilla, Philippines.

SSA has already modified www.ssa.gov to refer individuals with questions or inquiries to the appropriate FBU instead of U.S. Embassies and Consulates.

If you reside in Bangladesh and have questions regarding services provided by the Social Security Administration (SSA), you must contact the SSA Federal Benefits Unit (FBU) located in Manila, Philippines.  For more information on their services and how to contact them, please visit their webpage.

For comprehensive information on SSA’s services abroad, please visit SSA’s webpage Service Around the World.

If you are already receiving SSA benefits payments, there will be no change in the method of distribution of those payments.

The American Citizen Services Unit will continue to deliver federal benefits checks to recipients.  No appointment is necessary to pick up issued federal benefits checks and tax refund checks from the U.S. Embassy Consular section during Walk-In hours.  Walk-In hours for federal benefits check pick up is only on Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
