U.S. Passports: Apply Now to Get Ahead of the Surge and Avoid Delays

In 2007, the Department of State experienced an unprecedented surge in passport applications, issuing over 18 million passports as a result of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). Nearly ten years later, those passports are beginning to expire, and we have been experiencing increased demand for passport renewals. This increase in demand may lead to longer processing times, so we encourage you to apply for your passport well in advance of your travel plans. Renew your passport here .

The mission of the American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit is to provide assistance to United States citizens in Bangladesh. While we can provide a range of services and information, there are limits to what we can offer. For detailed information pertaining to specific services, please select the service/page that is appropriate for you.

All regular services are by appointment only. Walk-in hours are not available. To schedule an appointment online please click here.

Please arrive fifteen minutes before your appointment for security screening. Mobile phones, electronic devices other restricted items are not permitted inside the Embassy. Please arrange to leave these items at home or with a friend.
