Location:  Dhaka, Bangladesh

 

Event:  A political protest is planned to start about 11 a.m. today, Saturday November 14, at the National Press Club (about 12 kilometers south of the U.S. Embassy).  There is no specified end time.  Police also advise people to stay away from the National Press Club, Dhaka University, Shahbagh, and Paltan areas today.  The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is also calling for protests throughout the country tomorrow, Sunday, November 15.  It is recommended to monitor social media for latest information.

 

Security Guidance Reminder for all U.S. citizens:  Practice sound personal security measures by remaining alert, being aware of your surroundings.  Avoid protests, demonstrations, and/or rallies as even peaceful gathering can turn violent.  Always carry your cell phone with you.
