Message for U.S. Citizens – U.S. Embassy Dhaka, Bangladesh

Location:  Bangladesh

Note:  The U.S. Embassy remains open for business.

Event:  The U.S. Department of State and U.S. Embassy Bangladesh have arranged a special chartered flight for U.S. citizens and their families departing Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday, April 5, 2020.

This flight will include a Dhaka to Doha, Qatar leg and an onward connecting flight to Dulles International Airport, Washington, D.C.   Passengers will remain on the airplane in Doha.

This flight is not free.  All passengers will need to reimburse the U.S. Government for the cost of the flight.  A legal document, called a promissory note, for the full cost of the flight must be signed by each adult passenger before boarding.  Currently, we do not know the cost of each ticket.  No cash or credit card payments will be accepted at the airport.  Please review payment information on promissory notes (DS-5528) here.  While your passport will not be canceled, U.S. citizens who have signed a loan agreement for repatriation may not be eligible for a new passport until the loan is repaid.

You will be responsible for any arrangements or costs (lodging, onward destination or local transportation, etc.) beyond Washington, D.C.  The U.S. Embassy is unable to book any onward travel for you.  The exact departure time and routing of this chartered flight are subject to change.

If you wish to depart Bangladesh and have not already provided us your information, you can provide your information here.  Please do not call the Embassy to confirm your information; we will e-mail you if you are confirmed for a seat on this flight.  In the event this flight is full and there is still demand, we will make every effort to arrange additional flights in the upcoming days.

Unless you receive an email from the U.S Embassy in Bangladesh confirming your flight, please do not come to the airport in Dhaka.
