DHAKA, March 22, 2017 – U.S. Embassy Dhaka will host a Facebook chat with Officer Bret Barnum from Portland, Oregon, who is in Bangladesh as part of a joint U.S.-Bangladesh community policing program. The chat will take place on Thursday, March 23 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.
Serving the people of Oregon since 1993, Officer Barnum has worked as a motorcycle patrolman, a supervising Sergeant, and a counter-assault specialist for the Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team. Officer Barnum has visited Bangladesh four times to assist with the U.S.-Bangladesh community policing partnership. He has instructed hundreds of Constables, Sub-Inspectors, and others from the Bangladesh police force as well as government foresters from the Sundarbans.
