The U.S. Embassy cautions U.S. citizens that a cyclone named ‘Mora’ is expected to strike Bangladesh, northeastern India and Myanmar. The storm is expected to make landfall around Chittagong, Bangladesh late Monday night or Tuesday morning. Local authorities have issued a warning for fishing boats and trawlers to take appropriate precautions.
Expect extremely high winds, dangerous storm tides, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding to occur. Residents in affected areas should begin making necessary preparations to seek secure shelter for possible power outages, severe flooding, and property damage.
All U.S. citizens living in or traveling to the area should monitor local weather reports, follow directions from local officials, and take other appropriate actions as needed.
