DHAKA, BANGLADESH, MAY 9, 2017 – Ambassadors and High Commissioners from the 3+5+1 Group – the European Union, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Federal Republic of Germany and the International Labour Organization (ILO) – met with the Government of Bangladesh to take stock of the state of workplace safety and workers’ rights in advance of the May 18 Sustainability Compact review. The Partners welcomed an assessment of progress and challenges and look forward to continuing an open dialogue over the coming weeks and beyond, including through holding regular 3+5 meetings. The Partners remain committed to working with the Government of Bangladesh, labor groups, and private sector stakeholders to help make the ready-made garment industry in Bangladesh a safer and fairer place to work.
